I mean the shutdown is and will continue to cause problems for aviation but I'll be quite surprised if this particular incident ends up being tied to the shutdown in any way.

Bush 43 was a bad President but I do believe he did what he thought was best for the country and it's people, even the ones that didn't vote for him.

Obviously way to early to know for sure but I would expect that annual updated vaccines will be quite a bit more effective against newer variants where the previous year (or earlier) vaccines fell short.
