About two miles of track is due to be built via a level crossing across the A21 (!!) and (approximately) these fields near Salehurst. You will then be able to ride on a delightfully dozy rural steam line from Robertsbridge to Bodiam and Tenterden (hopefully by 2027 or so)

My understanding is there is not much else you can do with old tyres, so any use for them is welcome.

The only ray of hope is that Hendy told the Select Committee that having spent so much on phase 1, the country deserved to get the best use out of it. Limiting trains to 10 per hour would make no sense. Even if they don’t build phase 2, the train paths could be used for something.

Actually, having now watched the video, I don’t think it was unduly negative at all. You were merely describing what you saw, and you clearly explained the further improvements to come.

Good point

So is the model car part of it, or did it just happen to be in the photo? (Genuine question: Sorry if I am being dense…)

Scuse my ignorance, but what is it? In the background it looks like a model car.

The example in the article is a ridiculous one, but yes, the media always reach for an Anytime walk-up fare when making comparisons with, say, airline fares. They then invariably compare it to the cheapest available air fair.

Cycled around it in October. I had a brilliant day!

I agree that there is far too much exaggeration, inaccuracy and sloppy language on social media. I wish people would think before posting and be a bit more accurate and measured.

Or at worst, a momentary lapse of judgement by a young adult, not a thing that is entirely unknown in the wider world….

It is hard not to see Starmer’s fingerprints on this one. He gets flaky at the first whiff of bad news. His poorly-judged response to the ULEZ controversy in London comes to mind. I think Haigh did not jump but was pushed.

She is a human being at least. She answered questions incisively and without waffle. She had an obvious passion for railways and public transport. She was not just a career politician using Transport as a stepping stone to greater glory.
