This Bald-face hornet nest didn’t stand a chance with our ongoing 1.70” rain since late yesterday. Bald-faced hornets are not true hornets. They're in the wasp family – a black and white yellow jacket. 🐝

This afternoon a very tame female Black-tailed deer was back munching our Otto Luyken Laurel bushes by our driveway. She has visited this same spot the past few days. I’m 15’ away, she knows where I am. Very docile meandering around the front yard. 🦌

A young male Pileated Woodpecker enjoying lunch yesterday, then chasing off a female Hairy Woodpecker from his suet source. This routine occurs daily with assorted Pileated and other Woodpeckers. 🪶
