SUPER excited to share that I have a short story coming out in an anthology this month!

In "Storm Patrol", a newly-bonded gryphon rider must deal with her judgmental mount, her reckless older sister, and a magical thunderstorm -- all at the same time.

Trying a local breakfast place as I write this morning. Looks awesome to me! Maybe it will inspire awesome words.

I didn’t remember to take many pictures at WorldCon, but I did get to see a bunch of big names at a couple of panels and came home with a bunch of loot! It was a great time. Hoping to go next year, too.

I've been quiet, between a theater production going up this weekend and simultaneous writing-related activities, but today I get to share my first "look at this book with my name on it" post! I've got a short story in this anthology, launching Aug 1! You can check it out at books2read.com/u/4XMNx6.

My physical TBR pile gets taller and taller. As I sit here doing my day job, all I want to do is turn off that laptop and dive into studying my craft books…

I’ve read about the benefits of writing longhand, but after two pages, my hand aches like I imagine it would if I were 80 with chronic arthritis. Decades of typing have done nothing for my hand muscles. I guess I keep at it to build them up!

Today, I found this screenshot of a meme I saw on social media sometime last year, and it made me chuckle. I'm sure AI enthusiasts would say something like this is possible these days, but I still would not want to abdicate responsibility for my writing to someone or something else.

I'm sorry, iOS, I don't know how to do that...

I snapped this photo of Mars last night. It’s not the best photo ever, but it will continue to be clear in the sky for a couple more weeks. (And I was surprised at how many background stars the phone picked up!)

This year’s gift wrapping challenge: the coffin-shaped box! (Next time, I think I’d just put it in a larger box of a normal shape.) #christmasgifts

I missed commencement because of a bout of pneumonia, but by MFA is now officially official. On to literary greatness! (Or, you know, a modicum of success. I’d accept that, too.).

Took a break from politics and writing tonight to enjoy the first activation of the pellet stove for the season. It’s not really cold enough for it, but I wanted to turn it on for the joy of sitting by the fire with a book.

I’ve been quiet for the past week, mostly because I’ve been recovering from my epic push to deliver my manuscript on time, but now I’m super excited about having officially completed my MFA program! I’m all suited up for graduation next month! #SNHUalumni

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #619,039!

According to what they sent me, that makes me a Certified Bluesky Elder.

At my age, being called an elder is not quite the joy that maybe Bluesky thinks it should be... 😝

My writing craft library is 100% cat approved!

I mean, Heaven forbid she should use any of those fancy, comfy cat beds we bought her…

I arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday, exhausted from 22 hours of travel, but delighted to be at my first WorldCon!

Day one was a lot of fun, with great panels including some authors whose work I really enjoy and a fun workshop.

On to day two!

Tried the “writing in a coffee shop” thing this morning. Had a great latte and an amazing cardamom sugar and chocolate filling pastry. Oh, and I managed to write 750 words in an hour. A pretty successful morning, all around.

Saw this recently on another platform and had to share. As a supporter of literacy eduction and public libraries, I think it would be amazing if Taylor Swift decided to do something to boost public libraries and get her supporters fired up about them.
