Volume 1 complete. It’s not too difficult to read. I’d give it a try If you’ve finished the GENKI series or maybe even toward the end of book 2. It’s very punny so I’m sure there were a lot of jokes I missed. I’ll have to reread the series in a year or two when I’ve improved a bit! 😅

So tired of San Francisco’s standard BS. I understand private businesses don’t want to bother with maintaining bathrooms for anyone but staff but like, we don’t have clean public bathrooms everywhere, like a sane country, and this place serves liquids. Like, come on.

This book is very fun and if your Japanese is upper beginner to intermediate you should check out this series. There are also non-scary editions of stories about mysterious footprints or Hanako-san are too much for you.

I was just emotionally devastated by this children’s story about a cow that is slowly poisoned by a villager’s wife (yeah…there’s just a small amount of misogyny) who hates animals. Anyway, the cow’s footprints haunt a grave stone and then it just ends abruptly. WTH story?!

Some days I feel so totally trapped. I got an English degree so no foreign country will ever have me for the same reasons I’ll never make enough money to buy a house here. At least I can walk to 2 mediocre grocery stores I suppose.

Some days I feel so totally trapped. I got an English degree so no foreign country will ever have me for the same reasons I’ll never make enough money to buy a house here. At least I can walk to 2 mediocre grocery stores I suppose.

So uh, bsky ate my post where I said i just watched the Tng episode Night Terrors, S4E17. Anyway, it’s delightfully creepy and has some funny bits like Tori and Crisher knocking on the captain’s door because he ignores the repeating chime after discovering no one is there.

Only 5 more short essays until I finish section 1. It’s a lot less intimidating now but the next section features letters which for some reason I find to be the most intimidating form of writing in Japanese.

I enjoy throwing things out but I’m not sure I’d ever infer soukai is supposed to mean refreshing from context. It’s too subjective and depends a lot on your family and culture and how people around you describe the feeling, subjective, of throwing stuff out. So yeah, I used a dictionary :P

Photo mode in Cyberpunk is a little kludge but it's so much easier than taking photos of people irl. Also, I can have lights even in the middle of nowhere and I just click a button - no lugging of gear!

I just got this book and I wish I’d gotten it in January when I did the bulk of my N3 resource purchasing. I am worried about the writer of the first exercise who decided he didn’t need to take O2 up Mt Fuji because kids also hike it! 😬 Sir, people die climbing Fujisan every year!
