That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they? Hello?

I knew this speculative #feminist methodologies class was going to be incredibly eye-opening. "Dear Ijeawele" (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie) cuts right to the heart of things, including me and the things I wish my mother had known when I was a child.

I can’t recommend this enough.

UNBREAKING, a new project from @lizneeley.bsky.social & co, documents & explains our many concurrent institutional collapses.

It’s beautifully executed work, full of intellectual & moral clarity. 3 pages are live, more will come. It’s SO GOOD, & I learned so much.
👋 Hi, we’re Unbreaking, a volunteer-run collective working to document our current moment of institutional collapse and its human costs—as well as the pushback and resilience work already underway. We believe this is critical work for building and retaining political agency.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

This week I added my 5th teaching award nomination to my CV (which I am really humbled and honored by because it's a student-led nomination process)...

along with my 5th notification that I was not selected for said award.

This is definitely all Maddi's doing, but I'm stoked to be even a small part of it. Her and Emily were great to work with!
Wrote a really cool paper with @emilynordmann.bsky.social and @raechel.bsky.social and it was just accepted?? with no revisions?? all reviewers really liked it?? and that’s that??

(Genuinely did not know that was a thing that could happen)

I teach methods in psych. How do I gently ask my students "is this what a results section looks like in any of the papers you've read?" (or in the examples or the how-to videos I posted?)

I'm not being snarky. How do I tell them - model your writing after other good writing!

Is having a FT job, teaching a class online, taking a class online, and writing a book too much to do at one time? Yes.

Am I doing it? Not well, lol. Book words since Sept = 0.

Will I do it again next term? Also yes.

Tell me about all you're doing! :)

Does anyone by chance have a reference for the process of theory testing and development? Maybe @devezer.bsky.social ? I'm trying to argue that a basic tenet of theory testing is that it is incremental (ie isolates one feature to test at a time) #AcademicSky #PsychSciSky

one of the reasons bluesky works differently is because early users waged a successful fight to get the devs to prioritize safety features to protect communities at risk

as a result bluesky now has a suite of controls that i think are unmatched on social media

here’s the list, lmk what i’ve missed

Any #AcademicWriting folks out there have advice for how to list a book you're authoring on a CV? You have a contract for the book, but you're still in drafting stages.

Thanks!
