Gonna repeat myself, because I'm so protective of the Bond legacy: Marvin Hamlisch wrote a good theme song for "The Spy Who Loved Me," but the rest of the score just made us crave John Barry. (Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" Sept. '77 on #AT40)

Summer of '77 I'd spent many nights at Chicago's legendary punk club, La Mere Vipere. Hearing the (mostly) crap on this Sept. '77 #AT40 tonight, so glad I bought what records I could to bring back to college (many were still hard-to-find imports.)

Wow. "The Partridge Family" had only debuted about 6 weeks earlier in that fall of 1970. And, here's "I Think I Love You" already more than halfway up the #AT40 chart!

Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" is their most high-energy, blow-out-the-speakers, shake-the-rafters album ever. But "Killer Queen" was the song to skip over. #AT40

No one was more surprised than Alice Cooper when "Only Women Bleed" turned into a big hit. Set off a practice of making sure his following albums would each contain a moment of insufferable schmaltz for the next 3 years. Though that worked, business-wise, his original fans were appalled. #AT40

I attended Mellon Jr. High School in suburban Pittsburgh. Though it was named after this guy's grandfather, I'd be totally fine if they changed the name of the school. (Massive Trump backer + gave $$$ to Sec. Brainworm's presidential campaign and his anti-vaccine efforts.)

Look for the real Leather Tuscadero's first 2 albums. As the Rock & Roll HOF searches (half-heartedly) for women to induct, they repeatedly ignore the pioneer that is Suzi Quatro.

I was mad at guitarist Mick Ralphs leaving my beloved Mott The Hoople, but was happy that he found the chart success in the U.S. he never did with Mott. (And, a big middle finger to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for not inducting Bad Company until Ralphs had passed away.) #AT40

If anyone is like me - and has enjoyed watching 1971's "The French Connection" dozens of times - you may remember an early scene where Hackman & Scheider are scoping out a nightclub for gangsters. The group singing on stage is The Three Degrees. #AT40

Hudson Brother Mark produced & co-wrote the best run of Ringo Starr solo albums since his 1973 "Ringo" album. Reportedly, a falling out between Mark & Ringo resulted in Mark being banished from Ringoland. Big mistake. Ringo's albums haven't been anywhere near as good since. Best is below. #AT40

I was no fan of "Silly Love Songs" or "Let 'em In" at the time, but seeing Paul McCartney & Wings just a few weeks before this #AT40 from summer '76 was thrilling! (Chicago)

"Brown Sugar" is my absolute, no question, ultra-favorite of all Rolling Stones songs. It BEGS to be played loud! (That riff, those drums... and that sax solo from Bobby Keys? OMG.) #AT40
