Ugh. #AT40 had tried to expel it, but it just came back. Outta here. See ya Saturday.

This Floaters song is just... SO HOKEY. All I can picture is comedians skewering it on stage - to big laughs! #AT40

Now THIS is a movie that NEVER gets old!! #AT40

Well, we know which act Casey teased, but... an "Extra?" Doesn't Casey know the show started late?? #AT40

Back in '71, the original theme from "Love Story" was a hit, another instrumental hit as well, AND Andy Williams hit with his sung version. So, we've heard the "Star Wars" cover, & here's the original. Come on, Andy! Let's hear those lyrics to "Star Wars!!" #AT40 (NO, not Bill Murray's!)

Perhaps because I wasn't a kid, I had heard NOTHING as far was any pre-release ballyhoo for "Star Wars" that summer of '77. My friend and I just went to the movies, and thought "OK, this one." I loved it from the first scene. I can see how it was life-changing for kids 10 years my junior. #AT40

Eric Carmen, 1977: "This kid had the hit with my song? Whatever. Send me the checks." Shaun Cassidy "That's Rock and Roll" Sept. '77 on #AT40

Johnny Rivers wasn't on magazine covers, wasn't selling posters... but just, quietly, kept racking up hit after hit after hit for almost two decades! PROPS, Mr. Rivers. ("Swayin' To The Music" Sept. '77 on #AT40)

Gonna repeat myself, because I'm so protective of the Bond legacy: Marvin Hamlisch wrote a good theme song for "The Spy Who Loved Me," but the rest of the score just made us crave John Barry. (Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" Sept. '77 on #AT40)

Giorgio Moroder, 1977: "I don't need to pay musicians. I have Donna... and I have this machine." Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" Sept. '77 on #AT40

OK, well, tonight we're beating TWO "furry" hashtags, but haven't quite overtaken Not Suitable For Work. Something to strive for! #AT40

Finally: Heart comes through with "Barracuda." Thanks again, Ann & Nancy (and guitarist Roger Fisher.) #AT40

Summer of '77 I'd spent many nights at Chicago's legendary punk club, La Mere Vipere. Hearing the (mostly) crap on this Sept. '77 #AT40 tonight, so glad I bought what records I could to bring back to college (many were still hard-to-find imports.)

Nope. No sympathy for the #MAGA of the mid-19th Century. Sorry, Joan Baez, the "romance" of the losers of The Civil War just doesn't play anymore. ("The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" on #AT40)

By the time "Cat Scratch Fever" was released, Ted had fired his singer, Derek St. Holmes -undoubtedly because he was taking attention away from Ted. So, yeah, unfortunately, that's Ted on the vocals. #AT40

And here it is - the biggest turd in the punchbowl for all of 1977: Debbie Boone's justifiably reviled assault on our eardrums. Why do the lamest songs end up being the biggest sellers of a year? (See also: Tony Orlando/Dawn "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" back in '73.) #AT40

NICE ONE, Jolly!! #AT40
Today is Felix Unger day. #at40

"On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence; that request came from his wife."
November 14, 2025 at 2:24 AM
Kinda feels like we did this period on #AT40 very recently. Nonetheless, here's Leonard Unger (trying to) rock out on "Surfin' USA" in the fall of '77.
November 14, 2025 at 2:20 AM
FINALLY - Gloria Gaynor announces "American Top Forties..." as she was, apparently, never corrected. Back to Sept. '77 on #AT40. (And here's that insufferable "The King Is Gone" cash-in.)
November 14, 2025 at 2:15 AM
FWIW, the SiriusXM 70's on 7 website still shows #AT40 as being scheduled for 9:00 Eastern TONIGHT - as usual. Hmmm.
November 14, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Hey, SiriusXM 70's on 7 - haven't you learned YET that your most loyal listeners are DEAD SERIOUS about listening to #AT40 at the prescribed times??? WE DON'T APPRECIATE BEING KEPT WAITING... ! (First Bluesky f*** ups, now this?!!)
November 14, 2025 at 2:08 AM
The wonderful @petebuttigieg.bsky.social - precise & to-the-point.
November 13, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Also, despite @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com's efforts to protect Minority Leader Schumer, there's NO WAY it "just happened" that the traitorous 8 Dem Senators were either retiring or far away from re-election. Most were CHOSEN. This was ORCHESTRATED. SCHUMER MUST GO.
November 12, 2025 at 3:40 AM
For a 2nd night, tho apparently shaken by what was no doubt an avalanche of criticism, @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com, nonetheless, still preaching the inside-ball of "how the Senate works." Sorry, Lawrence. Politics is now 100% perception, and "The Democrats Caved" will be the only takeaway. Not good.
November 12, 2025 at 3:29 AM
MSNBC really dropping the ball tonight. First, @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com shows he's too much a Senate insider to see how righteously furious Dems are at Schumer's impotent cave-in, and now @stephruhle.bsky.social nods as her C-team guests believe this will "play well" for Democrats.
