Got stuck in the airport for a few hours last night while my Thanksgiving flight got more and more delayed, so I eventually just cancelled the trip rather than be up all night. But on the plus side, it got me working on Vanya's post-Origins Antiva fit again!

I think a lot about the time Xel'ia and Thancred argued in the First and how they were both probably at their worst, and both said some prettyyyy cruel and uncalled for things.

They make up eventually but WHEW it was acidic. Shadowbringers, am I right?

I finallyyyy sat down to start writing Xel'ia and Estinien in Reunion (yes I said I'd do this months ago but I didn't) and I have to say I am delighted by my own cat girl.

She's soooo sure she can be normal about seeing Estinien again until she opens her mouth. A couple of snippets I'm fond of
Orn Khai raised a small spiny brow and gave what Xel'ia estimated was the equivalent of a Dravanian shrug and winged off towards Reunion below. Silence settled over Xel'ia and Estinien as they watched the dragonet glide down over the rise, his white wings flared wide to catch the wind currents. It was a comfortable silence, or would have been, except a dozen questions burned on the tip of Xel'ia's tongue. Where had Estinien been, and what was he doing here? Had he ever gone back to Ishgard? Were his wounds healed, was his heart at peace? And did he feel her presence in the back of his mind sometimes, as she could still feel his in rare and fleeting moments of quiet? When she opened her mouth, intending to ask any of his journeys, her traitorous tongue said instead, without her permission and with much more feeling than she would have otherwise allowed: "You look well, Estinien." They returned to a fire already stoked and blazing, tended by no fewer than three of Xel'ia's xaela admirers -- who seemed quite crestfallen to see that she now had a companion at her side. As grateful as she was, she did not particularly want them to start a chest-puffing competition with either each other or Estinien, so she, gently as she could and with much flattery, sent them away, begging exhaustion after a long day. She was flustered by the time they left, both at Estinien's unexpected presence and at the incessant attention she'd received in Reunion since her return. Her tail fretted the air restlessly, despite her attempts to keep it still. Estinien watched the proceedings silently, his lips quirked in amusement, and only when they were alone again did he say, "If I didn't know any better, I would say half the Steppe was in love with you." To which she sweetly replied, "Jealous, are you?" The words left her lips before she could stop them, equal parts teasing and barbed. Their eyes met briefly, sparking like struck flint, before Xel'ia looked away, mortified and hot. There was a glint of...of something in Estinien's eyes, but of what, she couldn't say. She coughed, ears flicking back

Some details!

The border features items that are gatherable in the Mt. Gelmir region: Erdleaf flowers, Altus blooms, Sacramental buds, Arteria leaves, smoldering butterflies, etc, as well as portraits of Tanith and Rya. I tried to mimic illuminated manuscripts in the border art!
