That "intellectual diversity" and "free speech" were trojan horses for right-wing power-grabs has been obvious from the start and I remain disappointed how many supposedly rational folks took bad-faith actors at their word.

Refugees are being evicted because they falsely claimed to have family within the country; the "relatives" who helped them are being arrested.

We like to talk about compassion for the poor and dipossessed, but gloss over consequences for our comfort.
