Been passing for mundane so long I'm starting to fool myself.
Went to a free concert by (a chamber music trio from) Spokane Symphony in Manito Park with my daughter tonight. There was a sing-along portion led by a Spokane Chorale member. Among the song selections: This Land is Your Land and Edelweiss. Message received, Symphony. ✊ Thanks. ❤️

Found a cast resin Greater Kudu head on Marketplace somewhile ago. Spray painted the head and antlers, hand painted the eyes, and hung it up today. Am delighted. Also? It looks so judgy. It didn't look judgy before it gained a superior position. Hmmm...

Early dusk is a natural moody drama filter for plant shots (these are from an evening walk in my neighborhood a few days back).

At the tail end of a 12-month of my yard and flowerbeds being torn up for construction, this peony bloom is gratifying and hope-inducing.

Exulting in spring.

Taking a sabbatical from political news today (trying to, anyway). Having a happy-cozy-hobbit day in my home--appreciating the winterscape outside and my collection of colorful, happy-making paintings/prints from local artists.

Reaching for moments of calm &/or joy in a day filled with a multitude of trivial frustrations and a nightmare-in-real-life battle against fascism.

Yesterday I enjoyed a walk-wandered through the exquisite beauty of Discovery Park in Seattle (took bus route 24 there--it was comically circuitous).

Full bus. Situational awareness = zero.

Ah, so we've gone beyond the slurping; they're fondling now too. 🙄

High on the list of 'perks of living in a temperate climate' I miss are flowers in January.

Note for after 1/19: TT video by a Brit (going off the accent) that 'the U.S. is not exceptional and its government behaves a lot like governments it likes to villainize' is a popular opinion outside of the U.S., and that the problematic propaganda in the U.S. is American propaganda about America.

Hello, beautiful.

Am recommitting myself to a home-improvement project I've long neglected: stripping away the crime of layers of paint on gorgeous 100+-year-old fir trim.

It is dauntingly labor intensive, but the results are so, so satisfying. Pics are of today's work area and a previously commented room.

I leave my Xmas tree up until at least Epiphany each year (I like the twinkly lights); I packed it away for the season yesterday. Every year I put it up, that portion of the living room look so crowded. Every year, when I take it down, I'm always struck by how empty/spacious that corner now looks.

It finally got properly cold 'round these parts to chase away seemingly interminable rain and grey for a dusting of snow that yielded to blue skies.

This afternoon is for baking birthday cupcakes for my eldest and and other productive puttering.

ADU update, week 26 (sigh): progressing slowly

(Moving this series over from FB)

Drywall finally started 1/3. Drywall crew say they should be done by Monday. That's when I get to start with painting, cabinets, flooring. It's also the start of me being out of town for two weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️
