ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

I can’t believe I’m watching interviews of city mayors talking about how they are coordinating with other mayors to discuss how to protect their residents FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

I know we are “used to it” but it is absolutely insane

Man, the cost savings and efficiency measures the Trump administration has enacted is some real 4-d chess shit that's beyond my meager compression. I can't begin to understand how this saves money or makes our nation great.

Hell of a vacation, I guess.
So efficiency is when you… *checks notes*... force a huge amount of federal workers into early retirement, realize you can’t operate without them, then force them out of early retirement to do the job you were just paying them to not do?

I'm in agreement in a general/theoretical sense ("violence is bad/a ham-handed 'solution'".)

But individual acts of violence are easy to identify and castigate, and have limited areas of effect. Systemic violence is pervasive and more comprehensively harmful. Monty Python called it in 1975.
Political violence is always immoral and always counterproductive for a healthy democracy. It solves nothing. It only leads to further violence and ultimately enables scapegoating of vulnerable communities. Committing acts of violence against those who disagree with us helps no one.

Went to a free concert by (a chamber music trio from) Spokane Symphony in Manito Park with my daughter tonight. There was a sing-along portion led by a Spokane Chorale member. Among the song selections: This Land is Your Land and Edelweiss. Message received, Symphony. ✊ Thanks. ❤️

Found a cast resin Greater Kudu head on Marketplace somewhile ago. Spray painted the head and antlers, hand painted the eyes, and hung it up today. Am delighted. Also? It looks so judgy. It didn't look judgy before it gained a superior position. Hmmm...

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

Holy heck! The cracks are (really) beginning to show.
The Wall Street Journal had a piece last night that the Judicial Conference of the United States — the policy making body for the federal judiciary — is discussing whether the Judiciary should have its own armed security force rather than rely on the U.S. Marshals for federal judges’ protection.

Feeling a certain kind of cranky that we now have concentration camps, are watching our civil liberties evaporate, and are headed into a recession because 1/3 the country couldn't be arsed to vote and another third are some mix of credulous, racist, misogynist and xenophobic.
