just bought and started reading this book today and it is so well-researched, thoughtful, and important 🙏

ran the crescent city classic this weekend, my first 10k race ever, to fundraise for the friends of the new orleans public library & I am grateful for the beautiful route through the city, the entertaining crowd support, & the opportunity to push myself while hanging out with fellow book nerds🙏

I ordered a used copy of this book, Tu, c'est l'enfance by Daniel Maximin online from who even remembers where, many weeks ago and finally just opened to start reading it and I'm not great at reading signatures but... is this copy... signed by him??

grades are done and submitted and to celebrate I got a ham and cheese croissant + coffee glazed twisty croissant this morning from levee for more fuel, that were both perfect, bc everything they make is perfect, before I deep clean and maybee even attempt to write today 🙏

I am fascinated by the 1902 montagne pelée eruption & my partner also has been since before we met & when bartending pre-covid, he developed a rum agricole cocktail (he wanted to name sylbaris but chose saint-pierre instead) & I finally got to try the cocktail saint-pierre today & it is 🔥
