It's my birthday (and international men's day, which is rude, frankly) and I woke up with a stonking headache (also rude) but I did see a heron on my way to work, so not all bad

My cat is a common or garden catte and she has the manners to match
November 19, 2025 at 8:50 AM
Sometimes a cat is such a menace at 5am that a person has to shut her out of the bedroom in order to get just a tiny morsel of sleep and then when the person comes down for breakfast at 7:45 the cat is MIFFED

Goldilocks was the best little old lady cat. I loved her with my whole entire heart. She was very very soft and beautiful and polite. She never sat on my lap but when I lay down she'd lie on top of me. She woke me in the morning by gently patting me in the face. She died nearly 2 years ago, aged 14

(I don't know why bsky is so bad about image rotation) I think the badges are different colours depending on the number of donations they commemorate? So you could theoretically pin them all in a row like medals

Got a surprise present in the post from the Blood Service ♥️ I didn't know they still did the badges and I certainly didn't expect a certificate but it's rather sweet!

I had to check on streetview - there is still no lamppost but there is a telegraph pole

This afternoon I had help with the grief quilt. Well, moral support. Or, at least she only knocked a box of sewing notions all over the floor once.

I assume you're aware of this book

I haven't worked on the grief quilt for months but it's sunny today so I've come back to the sewing room and now I'm overwhelmed

I shook the treat-tin and Cally appeared. She liked the dreamies but maybe didn't think my singing was too good
October 29, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Today is Cally's 2nd birthday so obviously I've only seen her for five minutes. So here she is from the other day when she wasn't two yet. I'm sorry if I've posted it before

When mum visited me in Canada and we went to Quebec and saw the Quebec parliament they had the same carpet on their stairs (but wider and possibly green? I can't remember)

This paper advent calendar arrived today and the phrase "data-mining" caught my eye. I got A* for GCSE German in 1998 so can't translate this without assistance but it basically says "the use of this work for text and data mining under [some law or regulation] is [something] and therefore forbidden"

Calliope and I are listening (on delay) to the F1, and if Damon Hill pronounces Charles Leclerc like an English name and Sainz like it rhymes with paints once more I think we might have to scream. Maybe we can just get the BBC team to pronounce Damon Hill like it's French and he'll get the message

The way that this is *almost* in alphabetical order but also not is making my brain hurt

Look at this lightweight, asleep already

I was worried she wasn't waiting for her tea when I got in from work but then when we were eating she appeared and gave us a floorshow
