Counting down to the Adolescent Literacy Summit in Hartford on May 16th. The Matthew Effect, snowball cycle of exponential, self-extending growth - or its opposite - can be interrupted (and reversed!) at any point in the cycle.

And yet, the presumed era of BL (2000's-2019) is the period of growth on the NAEP. And now that we have laws mandating SOR, we see...the opposite.

I don't think there's a causal relationship here. But it's fun how ready folx are to blame whatever reading approach they don't like.
