As editor of the @ilatoday 's K-6 journal, The Reading Teacher, I keep seeing submissions related to phonemic awareness that simply re-introduce the concept with no new research or strategies. It's happened 4-5 times in the last few months. I wonder what this trend means for authors.

Counting down to the Adolescent Literacy Summit in Hartford on May 16th. The Matthew Effect, snowball cycle of exponential, self-extending growth - or its opposite - can be interrupted (and reversed!) at any point in the cycle.
