The amendment fits into one post -
"For the purposes of the law related to abortion, including s58 and s59 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, and the Infant Life (Preservation) Act 1929, no offence is committed by a woman acting in relation to her own pregnancy."

The law, when it comes into force, will bring England and Wales into line with Northern Ireland and Scotland, as well as France, Ireland, NZ, Australia, Canada, and even the USA - in saying that the appropriate place for abortion law enforcement is not with a vulnerable, desperate woman.

@tonia-antoniazzi.bsky.social is writing to @london.gov.uk to find out what on earth is going on. But what we really need is the law changed so these decisions aren't up to the police.

Honestly I feel like such an idiot - but in the moment I just couldn't get my head straight or the words out. I've done press on this for 7 years, never happened before - typical it happened live and just really hope it never happens again 🙃. Props to the team at #r4today who were super supportive.
