All of these attacks were used by politicians on both sides and basically every media outlet to justify attacks on pro-Palestinian campaigners, pass repressive new laws and criminalise the anti-genocide movement. Now it’s revealed they were all orchestrated by one criminal syndicate

Planning a possible trip to Aotearoa this Spring. I've been a few times, but it'll be my partners first time. He's worried about me seeing the same sights again, but the truth is I'm a changed woman this trip - all I care about now is seeing the NZ birds from Wingspan Oceania lol.

All the years I lived in Sydney, nobody told me about Wendy Whitley's Secret Garden. It felt really precious to spend time here today.

It's not a demolition site it's a mass grave. It's not a demolition site it's a crime scene. It's not a demolition site its a homeland. It's not a demolition site it's Palestine. It's not a demolition site it's a genocide.
Trump, with Netanyahu sitting next to him, says "Gaza maybe is a demolition site right now ... you can't live in Gaza right now. I think we need another location."

I just loved Jane Rawson's upcoming Human/Nature. I can't wait for it to be out [April] so I can discuss it with others! It spoke to my cynical yet hopeful heart ❤️‍🩹🦜🌿

My fabulous little local library has put a display of ‘bookmarks’ they e found in returned books. Cash. Notes to the tooth fairy. Origami. Birthday cards. What an absolute delight.

Can't tell you how much I'd pay for the ability to turn off Warner's player mic on my BBL coverage.

Had a delightful time on Literati Glitterati today. Started the new year as I plan on continuing it, talking books and birds! A joy to be in the @3rrrfm.bsky.social studios and talking on community radio.

Can't wait to talk about more books centring the natural world over the next two weeks! 🐦🌳🌊

This is your yearly PSA to use your library, friends!

Assessing my 2024 reading habits, 64 out of 78 books read this year [so far, lol] were either physical books or audiobooks borrowed from my local libraries. Saved myself a whopping $1910.27 🥳

Anyone in Melbourne want two GA tickets to the Boxing Day Test Day 2 [today]. Free to a good home, I'm devo not to be able to go but have been struck down by gastro after hosting Christmas, so RIP me.

After over five hours doing the full Christmas shop today (hosting my family on Boxing Day), am now ready to curl up with a beverage and a book for the next 24 hours.

My partner and I agreed to something really small for each other this Chrissy.

He comes home from shopping for a book for his dad. He tells me what he bought him... queue me trying to keep a neutral face as it's so obviously the exact same book I've wrapped and put under the tree for him, lol.

Presenting the Lord Mayors’ Summer Reading List!

Personally curated by our Lord Mayor, it features books new and old with a largely Victorian focus (of course).

These can be found at one of our many excellent bookshops or borrowed from the fantastic City of Melbourne libraries!

Braved the post office on the last day of work, decide I deserve a little treat. At the very last second, I see a sign for an 'espresso spritz' so order it instead of an iced latte.

Will I ever learn that carbonation and coffee aren't friends? 🤢

Have been dipping into Dave Witty's What The Trees See today after seeing him at Mountain Festival this morning. Gosh, it's phenomenal. Yes, I'm Googling tree images as I go as I'm a tree n00b, but the way First Nations culture and history is respectfully woven into this nature writing too... wow.

Had such a wonderful morning at Mountain Festival in Macedon today. Robbie Arnott talking Dusk, and Dave Witty and Sophie Cunningham talking trees. Heartening to listen to authors in discussion about writing the natural world with such passion and care.

Okay, so I have three library books, and I was going to read the openings of each before deciding which one to start for the weekend... pick up the first one, and it just hands down wins.

Amplify Bookstore isn't here on BlueSky yet, but they've opened a store near Queen Vic Markets, and my gosh, it's so glorious to go into a physical space curated with BIPOC voices. They've got an entire shelf of Palestinian authored works too.

Yes, I went in for work, but yes, I bought books.

Do you want to add alt text to images, but keep forgetting?

You can change your BlueSky settings to *require* alt text before you can post.

It’s in your accessibility settings. Very easy.

Have been seeing lots of great guides and reminders for Alt Text, which is ace.

Another easy way to make sure your content is accessible for everyone is to use camel case in your hashtags. What’s that?

Camel case is using a capital letter for each new word, eg #AccessibilityForAll

Have been in a post-holiday reading slump, but pre-holiday me put The Horse on reserve at the library, and sometimes the answer is 'now for something completely different'. After a weekend dedicated to music and the discussion of the meaning of it, this is what I needed.
