That being said, the trailer doesn't give me the same vibes yet as the manga (which is chock-full of them *hating*, resenting and resisting their attraction to the other person sexually, even as they desire each other professionally) but I'm still optimistic and happy to see the series recognized.

listen, if you don't have the manners to at least wine and dine him with a little fisticuffs first, what can you expect? ;)

WHY.

Right? Like... don't talk to me like my fears / stress / [anything] is somehow innately lesser because I don't have a label. Don't force me to have a label or imply that my experiences aren't as impactful or life-affecting otherwise.

But yeah I can be on this soapbox for hours, but it is often communicated whenever I see it as, 'this is a Group B trait' = 'Group A does not have this trait *at all* or in any impactful way' which is very limiting to Group A, and dismissive even if done with good intentions of uplifting Group B.

Similarly, the experience of masking -- anyone who's been in a minority who's had to hide that from society knows the experience of this. Even when not a minority, having to develop and use a social facade (work face vs. home face) is not unique to any single group, etc.

I get a little frustrated with this too because I see this same action a lot, and feel like this behavior puts a shared range of human characteristics into one bucket or the other, rather than acknowledging that those traits don't solely 'belong' to a single side.

(Not that there weren't significant issues of public perception back then, either -- but the raw bile around us in 2025 vs people able to deal with it in 1933 is a reminder of where we're at today.)
