As someone with an extremely large and clingy 16-pound senior tomcat who wants constant cuddles, when I say, 'I like games I can play with one hand,' I mean this sadly in the least titillating way possible.
I hate how calling things cringe is the latest socially-ok way to bully people for having self-value. You're pushed to be proud of who you are and to celebrate it -- but if you do, you know there's a bevy of people snickering privately and labeling you as too stupid to realize how foolish you look.

Have reached the point in this bad flu where I no longer want to drink coffee, which is honestly kind of impressive.

btw if reading on your phone works well for you (and is part of why AO3 being down is extra-hard), but you don't want Yet Another App, some libraries use eBook services that let you read in-browser natively ☕ free checkouts, no overdue fees/auto-returns, etc. Check your local library just in case!

Flu symptoms finally caught up with me last night -- and it is not kidding around -- so I'm hunkered down with cups of hot yuja tea, some chill LPs, and an elderly cat who is thankfully not anemic (yay) but just cold.

As much as I enjoy getting detailed copies of people's personal information, I feel like it's always worth remembering that if you use a service like Valvoline which emails receipts of work, please keep that email (and other info!) updated -- the vehicle has its own profile, not the individual.

Old man meatbrick child (yes that's not a contradiction) is now on six pills a day while his bloodwork percolates and we see if he needs an endo after all; fingers crossed the blood is just from stomach stress and not something worse.
January 16, 2026 at 3:11 PM
sounding more and more like I'll need to book another endoscopy for my older cat (on top of his echo later this year), and I'm trying to not think vividly about how complications from an endo were what very *very* painfully caused my last cat's passing (in combination with the cancer)

I've also been enjoying what I can of Where Winds Meet (after turning down every graphics setting and manually forcing DX11, and still having some completely unplayable solo/multi parts) and it has some definite potential as a writing backdrop too, so I'm thinking about some spots.

I've been struggling through T. Kingfisher's works lately because it felt like I hit her fantasy books, and suddenly all the female MCs seemed identical in both personality and build (as well as how people reacted to said builds), and discovered I'm not alone in this feeling, which is a relief.

Realized I'm probably the wrong type of person to play mahjong because I don't mind when someone scores a massive hand against me: look at those huge numbers and how proud they must be, I'm really happy for them and glad I could help.

After a nervewracking week of medical bureaucracy with nothing being sent in as promised, no follow-ups, and waiting to see if my prescription will even be covered (coworkers have had various meds of their own denied), I finally got signoff today just in time for the refill coming up... tomorrow.

I was looking through my tags to see if I can balance them a bit more since m/m is at 56 fics vs. f/f at 22 (not including multi, which has both sometimes), and while I'm already on this soapbox eternally, FF14... does not give very much for f/f options, does it.

I feel like I'm well equipped for the release of Pathologic 3 now that it's finally(!!) here tomorrow because I firmly dislike Daniil Dankovsky, so his impending Bad Day(s) at Town-on-Gorkhon Pt 2 isn't a turnoff in this regard.

'this book was boring because both people in the romance were soft and gentle, and kind to each other' -- no that's exactly what i want. give this book to me. there honestly isn't enough representation of this.

This week has definitely been A Lot already -- but I can tell that everyone else is having the same overload, so I've already paused to take a second look at some things (medical stuff still not processing) and caught where I could provide better info to help facilitate it, so that's a start.

I want you to know it's not just you. I shut down a lot today. Did a couple videos and some reading. About 1/5th my normal amount. No emails or cups. Took some time for myself because I needed it. It's not just you this is bothering. It's all of us. Take care of yourself. We need you.

Just realized that Lyon has these shades unlocked, which means I'll be wearing this glamour aggressively into PVP until summer.

For #FF14 Deep Dungeon runners, I just discovered that Maygi (author of the amazing guides) also has videos that are great quick references for the mobs as well as the bosses, so if you're like me in trying to remember each mob's exact aoe of death, look no further: youtu.be/ZzSOiPNSbtE?...

I worked on the Endwalker portion of this project and poured my heart into each page! Here's a peek at two of the five spreads I did (the first one being one of my favorite things I've possibly ever drawn!)

Please check out this planner (its full of GORGEOUS art!) and spread the word about it!

Me: i wonder if I should call my med plan just to confirm that they've finished clearing the prior authorization they said they would initiate 2+ months ago for coverage in Jan 2026
Them: we have no record of your doctor, prescription, pharmacy, or any action on our part whatsoever
Me: ah.

World lore should be like a corset: supportive enough to carry its story and shape it, but lose enough to let the story breathe and grow as needed.

(I mean the historical undergarment type, rather than fictional ideas of it)

As a small mercy, both cats have been staying out of my hair not only for the New Year's calligraphy, but also for the changing out of ofuda, gofu and other items, so I'm pretty sure I just used up the entirety of my good luck for 2026 on this very first day.
