Parental Permission (Part 4) - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Douglas is asking his father for permission to go out with a friend on Halloween. He has gone down to the basement where his father has spent many hours painting various models. Across his table are various tools for model painting. Douglas is weary of being down here at all be he does not want to put off asking his big question. Douglas: Dad, could I go trick-or-treating on Halloween with Gustopher and his dad? Ben: Yes. Panel 2 Douglas is surprised. He was expecting to be told no and possibly receive a lecture on how immature trick-or-treating is. He wants to understand why he's being given permission. Douglas: Really? I thought you'd call it childish. Ben: It is childish. You are a child. Go do child things. Panel 3 Ben begins to paint the model spaceship he's holding. His expression grows a little more serious. He explains his reasoning. Ben: Enjoy it while you can. Life is short. Eventually you have to stop playing with toys and man up. Panel 4 Against his better judgement, Douglas questions this statement. Douglas: But you're playing with toys right now! Ben: These are collectables. That's different. Deep down, Ben knows it's really not that different.

Here - Gator Days
Here - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 A much younger and smaller August is outside and staring up at the night sky. He is overwhelmed with a strong feeling existence. He might just be a small part of the world but he exists. He has a thought. "I'm here." Panel 2 August is now a teenager and is once again looking up to the night sky. He's at a point in his life where he feels stuck. He's overwhelmed with a lot of negative feelings. He continues to exist. He thinks "I'm still here." Panel 3 August is an adult now. He's now stands under the stars while holding his infant son, Gustopher. He looks up and contemplates all that's been happening in his life. He wonders how he's going to keep going. He wonders how he's going to make things work. Within all of his chaotic thoughts, one sticks out. "We're here." Panel 4 August is now older. Gustopher is older too. They're enjoying the night sky together and talking about the stars. Gustopher is happy. August is happy. Life can be difficult but there's times like this that make it all worth while. "We're still here."

Polly and Olivia Make Dinner (Part 2) - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gwen has stopped by to see Polly. Olivia is at the door to greet her. Gwen: Hello, Olivia. Is your sister around? Olivia: YEAH! We're making dinner! Panel 2 Gwen just now realizes that there is a concerning amount of smoke in the air. Admittedly, any amount of smoke in the air when you're inside is probably a reason for concern but this amount is especially concerning. Gwen: Is something burning? Olivia: YES! Come to the kitchen. Olivia is also concerned about what's going on in the kitchen. She's also amused at the idea of someone else seeing what her big sister is up to. Panel 3 Gwen has entered the kitchen where there is smoke leaving a pot on the stove. Polly is sitting on the floor and looking distressed. There is pasta scattered around and a mysterious red substance splattered against the walls, counter, and ground. There is a bottle labelled "Red Flavor Sauce". Mistakes have been made. Gwen tries not to judge. Gwen: Hey, Polly. What's cooking? Polly: Pasta. Panel 4 Gwen notices that there does not seem to be any water in the pot. This might explain the abundance of smoke coming out of it. a small flame is starting rise out of the top of the pot. Gwen tries even harder not to judge. Gwen: Uh... You know that you're supposed to add it to boiling water. Polly: I do now.

Problems - Gator Days
Panel 1 Polly isn't able to sleep. As much as she enjoys being in bed and wide awake, she decides to get up and move around a little. She is wearing one a shirt that says "FoRK FiGHT". This is one item of many that she has purchased from her favorite band. Polly (Thinking): If sleep is so important, why is it so hard to get? Panel 2 Polly notices that the kitchen light is on. Who dares disturb Polly's lack of slumber? Polly (Thinking): Is someone up? Panel 3 Polly looks into the kitchen and sees her mom, Penelope, at the table. She's got a steaming cup of something in a mug labelled "COMFORT JUICE". She's crying. Polly (Thinking): Is Mom crying? I never see her cry? Panel 4 Polly begins to walk away and contemplate what she just saw. Polly (Thinking): I get so caught up in my problems. I forget Mom has them too.

I know that number. Solid start. (2) Oh, a comma and some zeros. Cool. Must be at least 54 thousand. (3) A second comma! I wonder if we’re talking population or money. (4) Yikes! If this is money, it’s a *lot* of money. (5) Why am I reading this? Whatever this number is, I’m not going to be able to visualize it. (6) All right, either someone made a unit conversion error or this is one of those incomprehensible astronomy numbers. (7) [4 zeroes between commas instead of 3]] Oh no. Is this a misplaced comma or an extra zero? I guess we’ll see if the next group has two zeros or three. If it’s two, we can at least hope the digits are right. (8) [4 zeroes between commas] Oh *no*. (9) [repeat of the digits 54] What is happening. (10) [a quotation mark in place of comma] Someone messed up real bad. Gustopher Goes Missing (Part 3/3) - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gustopher had gone missing and August is starting to panic. He just tried called Gustopher's phone but there was no answer. Gustopher is now standing right behind him. August (Thinking): I need to ask the store to make a missing child announcement. Panel 2 Gustopher speaks, surprising August. Gustopher: Something wrong? August: THERE YOU ARE! Where were you? Panel 3 Gustopher points to where he was. He was just shuffled around a little in the crowd. He possibly also stepped through a wormhole where he was taken to a great multitude of dimensions and worlds where the flow of time is different. Don't worry about it. August reaches down towards Gustopher. Gustopher: Just over there. I got turned around in the crowd. Panel 4 August sweeps Gustopher up into a tight hug. His face is filled with emotional. His worry is dissipating he's glad his son is safe. Gustopher: Dad, I was only gone for a minute. August: A lot can happen in a minute.

An Absent Mother's Day - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gustopher is going for a walk. He wrote a letter to his Mom that he doesn't intend for anyone to see. Excerpts of the letter are shown while he walks. He has found a stick. Letter: Dear Mom, I've grown a lot since you left. Panel 2 Gustopher marches forward with the stick he found. It's a pretty nice stick. It makes a cool sound when he swings it. Letter: I'm not a baby anymore. I learned to write and how to make friends without you. Panel 3 Gustopher stops at a bridge and rests his stick on the railing. He's feeling a lot of big emotions right now. Letter: I guess I didn't need you. Panel 4 Gustopher watches the water. It's a good day and it's a difficult day. Letter: I still wish you were here.

Break Time - Gator Days
Panel 1 Iris has entered the break room where she finds August sitting on the ground in front of the coffee maker. She greets him. Iris: Hello August. August: Hello. Panel 2 After assessing the situation. Iris decides it's best ask what's going on. Iris: Why are you on the break room floor? August: I felt overwhelmed and sat. Iris: Gotcha. Panel 3 Not quite sure what to do next, Iris sits down on the floor with August. The two sit there silently for a while. The completely ignore the work place motivational posters. One shows two crudely drawn individuals high fiving. It says "LETS GIVE 200% GO TEAM". Another has a man with hashtags glued to palms and it says "WASH HAND B4 U RETURN TO WORK". These were clearly made by someone who has a passion for graphic design. Panel 4 Iris: I thought you were being weird but this is making me less stressed. August: It helps. It did help.
