Big news coming on the back of yesterday’s passing of the Care Reform Bill @mareetodd.bsky.social I look fwd to working with you on your new portfolio. We haven’t always agreed but I am in no doubt of the commitment you brought to social care and our sector. Thank you from @ccpscotland.bsky.social

Great that Carol Mochan’s @scottishlabour.bsky.social amends on Fair Work in Care Reform Bill have passed. Scotland’s far from achieving Fair Work in Social Care. This is a welcome 1st step - but not the last one. A strategy and report will HAVE to demonstrate action asap @ccpscotland.bsky.social

Important that the social care market is understood but glad to hear @mareetodd.bsky.social make a commitment that the burden on data requirements in an overstretched sector will be minimal. Look fwd to working with ministers on the detail of delivering the social care market monitoring provisions.

Jackie Baillie’s amend on ‘report on projected care needs’ in the Care Reform Bill just passed. This is really good news. @ccpscotland.bsky.social has long called for such a report to support a genuine allocation of social care resource (money and people) to meet need. 🙏🏻 @scottishlabour.bsky.social

Sitting next to @mndscotland.bsky.social CEO in the chamber who is making a silent cheer for the passing of @paulsweeney.bsky.social amendments on disabled people’s continuity of care when moving home and on timing of assessments for people who are terminally ill. @ccpscotland.bsky.social 👏🏻👏🏻

Sorry to see @stephenkerr.bsky.social amendment on social care staffing audits defeated this pm. @mareetodd.bsky.social has said the first Health & Care Staffing Act report to be published in October will address the same issues. So we will look closely to ensure this is so @ccpscotland.bsky.social

Delighted to see Jackie Baillie’s amends on ethical commissioning & procurement in the Care Reform Bill passed this afternoon. @ccpscotland.bsky.social has called for these amendments from the start and highlighted the commissioning procurement gap on our research. A +ve platform for improvement. 👏🏻

‘We want government to be more activist, interventionist and collaborative in housing,’ says @johnswinney.bsky.social @sfha.bsky.social At @ccpscotland.bsky.social we know this also needs energy & investment in care & support to help families & individuals maintain tenancies & reduce poverty.

⚠️Tomorrow @houseoflords.parliament.uk will vote on amendments to the eNICs legislation that could lead to exemptions and a review of its impact on our sector.

Unless the Bill is changed, the consequences for social care in Scotland and across the UK will be devastating.

Trying to prep a @Ccpscotland.bsky.social brief on the @scotparl.bsky.social stage 2 #NCS amends. Sooo frustrated. 3 years of considered influence largely wasted; now a last minute scramble to assess a raft of amends that will wholly change the Bill (even the name!) -unintended consequences anyone?
