They also kicked out the local food bank trucks. (They used to let them park there, now they have to park them ... *waves hands* in any spot you can safely park a box truck?) Kroger is being quite the bag of d##### now.

The Sioux Falls mobile grocery was a pilot project. The inside of the trailer was brightly lit; it took all modern forms of payment; it had refrigeration and freezer space; it was AMAZING. I hope they figure out a way to bring it back. The prices were reasonable too. It was definitely run with love.

Here's a crazy idea for the Lake City Mini Park: a mobile grocery store like this one I visited in South Dakota. It would be an amazing way for the City of Seattle to show the grocery store mafia that we will still care for people - even if corporations will not.

I heard on the news that he quoted Bruce Lee about failure - and they made it sound like he was predicting it for Katie? It was.. weird. Gonna have to give it a speed listen I guess - just out of morbid curiosity.😂

Gorgeous. 💙 (So sorry for your loss. I know it hurts like hell. 💙)

But... If any breed deserved to be the face of a science article on dogs, it is definitely the border collie - and definitely yours. He/she was beautiful!

So then we start reading the tea leaves a little harder, right?

And the thing I sorta picked up on was that Zahilay is a little more of a wild card, and Balducci is more of a known quantity. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/m...

And I have to admit, I like known quantities. I know it's unsexy, but 🤷‍♀️

Third, the thing that EVERYONE seems to agree on is that these two candidates are SO SIMILAR in their voting records that it feels like a toss up.
October 26, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Second, and this is not my most logical reason, but the fact that @governorferguson.bsky.social endorsed Zahilay is an ANTI-VOTE. Bob has been a HUGE disappointment, and even his endorsement is a twisted truth. (See parenthetical re: delivery of mental health centers www.kuow.org/stories/the-...)

First and foremost, Balducci is the transit whisperer.

"She deserves flowers for pushing Sound Transit to open the East Link despite delays and lobbying to open the Federal Way stations ahead of 2026." - @thestranger.com (I LOVE this photo: @scottgreenstone.bsky.social for @kuow.org )

Yes. Both are good, but I have a friend "on the inside" and she says "100% Claudia Balducci"

THIS:

"US-EAST-1 is AWS’s oldest and largest cloud region, a popular nerve center for online services, which has made it an Achilles heel for the internet over the years. Major outages originating from this same region also caused widespread disruptions in 2017, 2021, and 2023." @geekwire.com

And I'm 3000% sure that multiple people have written as much in multiple COEs (correction of errors) at Amazon.

But sometimes those CORE bits are REALLY hard to break apart so they stay that way because they're really well "protected" - as best as folks can manage.
October 20, 2025 at 6:23 PM
So when you talk about having all your sites and services as "multi-AZ" (multiple availability zones) - you're all fine and dandy until something REAL BAD happens in this one specific place.
October 20, 2025 at 6:21 PM
I think the real issue might be that US-EAST-1 still contains traces (or a lot?) of GLOBAL control plane bits.

US-EAST-1 is old. It's like the granddaddy of AWS. If there was ever going to be old crufty not-quite-best-practices orchestrationy bits, it would be there.

This cost-cutting is not just Colbert.

The same forces coming for smart comedy are coming for my mom’s rehab, the amazing health care - her second chance.

They canceled the most-watched late-night show.

Eventually, they’ll cancel her gen too—unless we stop them. #Medicare #Colbert #SaveDemocracy

My mother loves Colbert so much - we put her TV on KELO 11 at 7:45pm every night. Colbert is not on until after the news, but the remote in her room is so crappy that she accidentally changes the channel with the volume. She sits through the horrors of other CBS programming - just to watch Colbert.
July 18, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Colbert’s Late Show was still the #1 broadcast late-night show with 2.4 million viewers in Q2 2025.

It grew its audience while others shrank. It wasn’t ratings that killed it.

It was money. It was politics. It was the long knives of “cost-cutting.”
