OK this latest press release from the ICC has seriously pissed me off.

The VERY FIRST World Cup in 1973 was entirely umpired by women.

Maybe pause a minute from puffing yourselves up to read a history book? (I can recommend a good one... 😂)

Even if AI doesn’t give us the murder-robot future or the meteoric market crash, the electricity drain alone is gonna kill us in a corporate world still fighting against renewable energy
Paragraph from a recent Prospect.com article. “The scale of expected data centers to power generative Al is difficult to wrap your head around. Oracle recently announced plans to build a gigawatt-scale data center just for Al, powered by a trio of nuclear reactors, while OpenAl pitched the White House on the necessity of five-gigawatt data centers, which would be enough power for about three million homes consumed by a single Al data center. A recent report from McKinsey expects the electricity going to fuel Al data centers will triple from 3 to 4 percent of the country's electricity to 11 to 12 percent by 2030. The power industry typically grows 2 to 3 percent a year, far too little to meet the predicted jump in demand. McKinsey estimates that power utilities would have to spend $500 billion on top of their planned capital expenditure to keep up with Al needs. If true, this presents a serious bottleneck for not just OpenAl but the expected growth of the Al industry.”

Searching attendances, the Google bot that you cannot switch off chimes in that “2013 had the biggest crowd since 2017”

So it’ll revolutionise society but still can’t crack the direction in which we perceive linear time
