Things are bleak, but there are also countless stories of kidnappings thwarted by resistance already. Those kinds of numbers don't get precisely tallied, because it's not always safe to tally them. But they're out there.

What would it look like for this to stop in Chicago? For good?

Not sure counting on them to hit enough white, wealthy neighborhoods to spark mass outrage is a strategy and whether that kind of solidarity even lasts long term is a separate discussion. But it also almost doesn't matter if they just keep hopping cities faster than communities can adapt

This is also why you can still walk outside every day and go to work with everything appearing mostly "normal" and you meet people in your day to day who have no idea four neighborhoods were tear gassed last week and you feel completely fucking insane over it all
