Tel was very impressive. True striker instincts, athletic, good movement. Exciting to see if he can keep improving.

Sorry it doesn't fit into your narrative, but that person is not on the board of Bark nor were they representing Bark's views.

Bark never argued against the courts. SOMEONE ELSE at the mtg argued along the lines of not putting in very expensive glass backboards because the new ones like that were broken intentionally recently. It was NOT an argument to shift funds from bball courts to the dog park, nor was it made by Bark.

FWIW, these funds were not diverted from the basketball courts for the dog park. It was community action to improve the badly run-down dog park that was the impetus for the Council to allocate funds for the whole park, including the basketball court, which the dog park advocates supported.

I attended the meetings as well, and I know Bark very well too. Bark leadership never took a position on the bball courts. They never contacted DPR about it, let alone ask to divert such funds. If anyone did so, it wasn't Kingsman Bark.

You are also 100% wrong to say it was Kingsman Bark or the woman who leads it who fought to take funds from the bball court to fund the dog-washing station. Who that mythical person is I don't know (I attended both mtgs this year and don't recall anyone calling for that) but it wasn't Kingsman Bark.

The dog park reno wasn't going to happen "one way or another." It has taken years of consistent effort to get the city to improve a neglected (and sometimes unsafe) public resource. The grass field and bball court have been updated in recent years, but the dog park has fallen into disrepair.

If there was indeed something that "diverted" funds away from the basketball court, it was probably the new pickleball court that DPR surprised everyone with at the last meeting.
January 3, 2025 at 9:53 PM
This is 100% untrue. Kingsman Bark never advocated for stripping funds from the court to put toward the dog park. The funds were originally allocated by the council PRIMARILY for the dog park with additional enhancements for the court and adjacent field, which Bark has always supported.

Manhattan should look like Tokyo and Long Island should look like the Netherlands. LA should look like CDMX and Barcelona. We need to build our way out of this.

Ugh. So fly early on Monday when IAD might be OK but where the drive there is sketchy, or fly later when the roads are better but flights might be backed up. Fun choice!

Thoughts on flying out of Dulles during the storm? Currently booked for 9am on Monday, driving to IAD from Capitol Hill, but considering maybe 6pm is better?
