I was here and the committee sounded so angry, and the answers from Plano were lacking.

A DART board member tells me Farmers Branch and Highland Park will also discuss holding withdrawal elections from the agency. Much of the broader coverage has focused on the suburbs itching to bail. Here's a profile of a group fighting to keep—and improve—DART. labreportdallas.com/p/dart-s-big...

I've lost count of how many times people notice that @hexel.dallasurbanists.org has a goose and the comments or social media always goes crazy about it.

The blocking of the media from posting on Reddit is egregious and shouldn’t be allowed. I demand that the Plano mods try taking a bus or train for once.
Even if /r/Plano won’t have us, we’re committed to bringing Pulitzer-worthy shitposts to the people of Plano and its beautiful suburbs— even Dallas.

Car dependency dies in the darkness, but Suburbanista will continue to shine bright like a 10,000 watt LED floodlight in your favorite parking lot. 💜

I wanna point out I don’t live in Addison nor do I transit through Addison, but hearing the riders stories of how much longer their commutes would be would be devastating if the buses were moved off Quorum. Why should we prioritize noise over safety of riders?
Tomorrow, the Addison Town Council will consider a resolution supporting the relocation of busses off of Quorum Dr., the heart of Addison circle. They will be moved to Addison rd. making bus access harder for thousands as Addison rd. lacks complete sidewalks and has few protected crossings. (1/4)

I never thought love streaming a public hearing while at work and live-skeeting at the same time would be time consuming. But it genuinely was.

Here at the DART pre-Public Hearing community meeting for feedback on next year’s proposed fare increases and service cuts. 67 people here at Akard to give what will likely be scathing remarks on the service cuts.

Some notes from the Carrollton Pre-Public hearing this evening:

Many impassioned Paratransit riders expressed serious concerns with the potential restructuring . To them, it is already a service that is struggling to meet their needs as is.

These cuts would be catastrophic for Paratransit!

DART is taking public comments on service cuts that would be required to fund the 5% General Mobility Program that gives DART funding back to the cities. Our transit network needs to be growing, not shrinking- speak out against these cuts at these meetings this June!

⏰ It is 10 pm... The House Calendars Committee failed to put House Bill 3187 on the House Calendar 📆. House Bill 3187 is presumed dead now. 🎉 However, we should still be on the lookout, because Senate Bill 1557 could still move very quickly. 👀

Thank you, everyone, for your support!

I am hearing some Texas reps are getting hundreds of emails per day in opposition to Plano's Kill DART bill. Some say emails don't work but there is apparently a tipping point when their staff can't deal with anything but one issue. Engagement works. Save public transit!

Last night the Texas House Transportation Committee held a hearing on House Bill 3187, which could change the way DART is funded and potentially take millions from the agency. Of the 32 speakers, 28 were opposed while 4 were in favor of the bill. Here are some clips from that hearing:

In a statement to the Dallas Morning News, DART board member Randall Bryant, who represents Dallas, said that he believes ”a bill to fundamentally dismantle and defund our agency would be filed, and that is exactly what HB 3187 would do.”
