Committing the sin of empathy daily.

"I got no rules to recite except love one another; God, if you'd all only do that, you wouldn't need no other rules at all, not one." ~Theodore Sturgeon, Godbody

How is it that I'm in my fifties and the majority of those ruling this country could be my grandparents?

PLEASE... please can the rapture really actually happen this time? I want to get busy healing our beautiful planet Earth. Hard to do that with this death cult hanging around.

I've been banding birds for a grad student in North Alabama since the end of July. This is the third year for the project, looking at use of an urban park (Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve). This is a hatch-year red-eyed vireo banded today. My first for the season, likely hatched at the site.

"Do not commit the sin of empathy."

We've all seen this countless times since it was first published (Joel Pett, 2009). It's relevance cannot be overstated in the face of so much *deliberate* misinformation about climate change and those researchers who spend their lives studying it.

I'm reading the book Crossings: How Road Ecology is Shaking the Future of Our Planet, by Ben Goldfarb. In it, he describes how mortified people used to be at the absolute slaughtering of animals on roads by cars traveling >40 mph. Now? We have become inured to dead and decaying animals roadside.
