Hi! I'm Jen, a quest/mission/content/narrative/whathaveyou designer who mostly just wants to give players Cool Things To Do, and maybe have them feel things while they do it.

If they're feeling up to it. It's okay, I don't read all quest text either.

Miscellaneous things in 🧵
I have been in ephemeral 'Waiting' time for a week now because I can't aggressively pack up to move while my thumb is healing. AND I'm waiting on an important email.

I need to escape this gravity well. Hrrghhh.

She isn't doing her best to show it but Layla loves the rain. Just not her coat.

Discovering that I enter a Phased Sleep pattern when I am not employed. Up at 10am, down for a long 2-3 hour nap at 6pm, up until 2-3, asleep until 10am.

Pretty sure I have the Night Owl gene and this is how I cope with having to be awake when the sun is out.

Dumb thumb no longer funny. I need this appendage.

Dogs or doglike creatures that you can pet.

Oh there's a reason. It's either naked corruption or someone had a gun to their political heads. They should still be reviled as the cowards they are, as should be the establishment that created and enabled them.
Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

Why did I check Bsky after having such a lovely offline day :(

The Supreme Court is fully and completely captured. We've known this for a while, now let's yell for the folks in the back.

This is too much free time.

Is there a word for the feeling of things going TOO well?

That liminal space where I have an appointment in less than 2 hours but I'm stuck on what I can do in the meantime, so I am doing a lot of spiraling and hemming and hawing instead of doing anything at all.

Got some bittersweet chores done today. Rather than going through the rigamoral of selling my small items, I tend to offer things up for free. You meet all sorts of people this way. Glad my things will get used.

I'll donate whatever doesn't get claimed. Feels wrong to dump stuff in a landfill.

Still riding the high from last night. Passively smiling over breakfast.

It's nice to feel at least a little optimistic. I can be practical later.

These aren't small victories. This is proof that the Left can get up and move when properly motivated. Almost like solid policies that make life better are a winning proposition.

Curious to see what Cheetoh Mussolini will try and do about all this. Not beyond him to subvert the will of the people.

One week out from this layoff and I have 3(!!!) irons in the fire already. Some of them have been very formal processes, others are... so flexible I'm honestly kind of shocked at my options????

I'm stressing out about making the RIGHT call, but at least I'm not worried about having zero choices.

30 minutes to cancel my service with Cox. Asked if I wanted to transfer my service (I am moving to a place that has internet), would only be moving temporarily (cancel please), and if there was anyone else at the address to transfer the service to (no, just cancel).

Went for a long walk this morning and finally curbed the junk food train I was on. All I gotta so is put away all the laundry I did and I will consider this a very good post job loss weekend.

I don't know why it surprises me whenever recruiters approach me. I've worked very hard to build my experience and resume. I'm good at articulating my skillset.

Every time, though. EVERY time.

"Oh wow you think I'd be a good fit? Me?"

Imposter syndrome is a bitch.

Gave notice on my apartment, eating an enormous lease break fee in the process, and scheduled movers. My family offered their spare bedroom and as much as it is going to be a challenge moving back home, I need some time without a rent obligation to get my shit together.

In case anyone was wondering what is happening with New World after the layoffs. TL;DR- No new content, shutdown sometime in 2026ish. TBD.

Getting stuff done today, but when there is no more Stuff to get done, I suspect I am in for a C R A S H. Delayed processing comes in handy when in an immediate crisis but it does mean I'm still in for the worst of it.

👋
Amazon is laying off 14,000 people, with the video games division hit in particular, and others in its corporate workforce.

The layoff message to employees highlights how AI will "innovate much faster than ever before".

I got promoted to customer from Amazon Games. Can't say I didn't see this coming and I'm relieved that it's out there and official.

If anybody needs a content design wizard to make fun game loops or tell fun stories, hit me up! Think I'm gonna chill during my severance period though.
