I made this one like 10 years ago. Carbon steel and ebony wood. I need to sharpen it a couple times a year but it stays pretty sharp.

ah yeah. eventually your knife will keep shrinking or the blade will widen if you use those too much (since they remove stuff) but if your knife isnt an expensive one, not a big deal, just get a new one and keep it sharp too

an honing steel (often called a sharpening rod) will sort of bend the edge to be straight again
sharpening stones and sharpeners will remove metal at an angle to create or repair the edge

i have a couple of good quality sharpening stones which i use every few months to clean up the edge and an honer which i rarely use but should (assume this is what you mean when you say you sharpen every time)

hell yeah its a fantastic place to visit. we took a puddle jump flight to vieques, which was incredibly beautiful and way more intimate, i recommend it

my family lives down there and i'd say it always kind of was. take out the gerrymandering and disenfranchisement, give it a few years for momentum, you got a blue state maybe
