I really enjoy that the key to B&N's new business model is "stock books that people who live here want to buy from a bookstore" instead of keeping 20 shelves of For Dummies books and accounting textbooks.

My biggest concern would be that you get one that's a hunk of junk and/or a fire hazard.

Same with DEI. Lots of poor folks (white people included) can benefit from DEI programs.

This is also true of many of the finer points of church dogma, especially things that absolutely don't matter to how you live your life, like whether the trinity is a thing, or what percentage God vs Man Jesus was. (I think the only "correct" answer is 100% of both.)

It's especially infuriating as someone who lives in the bluest of blue areas (Portland), and my rep and senators are actually pretty OK, so I can't even really yell at them except to tell them to dump Schumer.

I recommend listening to The Downward Spiral to get yourself in the right frame of mind. The sounds of a man being beaten start it off, just to remind you what our "leaders" really think of us.

The machine on the first floor of my building was a different model which used different controls for the steam wand; it behaved differently enough that I could never get the foam where I wanted.

It took me a few months, but I was able to learn how to make a latte heart using soymilk (extra difficulty level) just by making myself 2 or 3 coffees a day - but I could only make it work on the machine on the second floor since that's where I practiced.

I had a home espresso machine (Gaggia Coffee Deluxe) for a while and I was able to pull some decent shots with practice but steaming was a joke.
So much easier to use a proper professional machine like we had when I worked in an office that had one.
