I'm posting this because I don't want freelance artists to get shafted by people who don't know how this works. If a publisher (especially a small press publisher!) is asking for copyright transference without paying you correctly for that - DO NOT WORK WITH THEM. They DO NOT need to 'own' the work

Begging small press indie RPG people to understand you're not in the games industry you're in the publishing industry. You *need* to understand how licensing works if you're going to be hiring artists.

Funnily enough that practice arose because when English typesetters imported types from the continent they used the Y to indicate Þ because they looked similar to the scribed Þ an the European types didn’t include Þ.
