Wrote a teeny blog post, inspired by some queer joy found within the animal kingdom, through the conduit of drag king, Bi Curious George.

If they can be Queer, why can’t we?
It’s at times like these that I want to remind us that we are all just flesh sacks propelled forward by dreams and chemicals.

People sell second hand books like "Great condition, slight damage as shown" and it literally looks like it's been dipped in a river.

🥀 Gothic Affirmation 05 🥀

I am unique, I am worthy of love;
I am the best of so many people;
My heart hums with electricity;
My father is proud I’m alive;
Folks from town want to meet me;
Fire is bad.

Facebook users are making me so mad right now. This caveat is pretty easily readable as a marketing joke but has been misread so much. With comments: "ugh why would they feel the need to put that on there" or "ugh other people are so dumb they have to put that on there" - ITS A JOKE! ARGH

Quite a big fan of these 'Tales of the Weird anthologies'; exploring #Gothic fiction by theme is a very different way of approaching the genre.

Someone just pronounced romantasy as Roman-tussey in front of me, and now I've got horrible Caesar based imagery.

I really enjoyed writing this one! A look at the rise of 'fated mates' #romantasy books and why this might be appealing.

Watching James and the Giant Peach 🍑 an excellent childhood rewatch. Miss Spider is a goth queen and I want to be her. #unrealisticbodystandards

Side note: I never appreciated the Earthworm's pessimism jokes until adulthood. Now he's my favourite.

George Eliot & Middlemarch came up 3 times today on 3 separate occasions. Once on my pals Insta story, again on a historic tour in my hometown, and then again when another friend booked us to go for a meal without me knowing, at Middlemarch Farm (named for the book)

A sign from the universe, I say!

Resharing my latest #Gothic academic piece around the use of Blood/Red on white fabric during the transitional moment from 'pure woman' to 'monstrous vampire'.

Queer Crossroads is my latest venture exploring the Gothic and #Queer fictions. 🌈📚

Corrupt and Monstrous Sensuality: Blood-Red on Women’s White Clothing in Vampire Novels
Red wine, scarlet roses, crimson lipstick, blood stains. There’s so much that connects the colour red with the danger, passion and seduction of the vampire.

My girlfriend ran the 'D8 night' D&D campaign for me for #ValentinesDay and when I say I ugly cried I mean, I was sobbing. She's so perfect. She dressed as an elf and we had mead and danced to La Vie En Rose. She's the love of my life and I want to marry her one day. #romance #queerlove

Is anyone else terrified that a guy can just, on a whim, decide to just change the name of something historic because he doesn't like it. He is playing with lives and with history. He's installed himself into arts and education - the places that he knows will be most effective. #trump #gulfofamerica

#DungeonsandDragons question - with the new 2024 rules, is anyone else finding that it is making some of the races a bit more OP? Players have random abilities that seem to make their characters ridiculously beefy. For example, inspiration on a long rest just for being human? #dnd #D&D

I took this picture a few days ago, visiting a #NationalTrust site (UK), the way the vacant chair looked against the green colour was so striking. It really took me back to a time when the house might have been inhabited.

writing is hard because you flip back and forth between "I am a literal fraud and this book will never be completed" and "I am a literary sex goddess and this book will earn me the affections of seven comely lasses"

Reposting this as it's LGBTQ+ History Month, and Section 28, or the 'Don't say gay' bill, was such an important part of our recent history and is still affecting LGBTQ+ people (like me) to this day.
