In the end, yes, there are bad people who will use AI on the most selfish ways, even to gain/profit from it. How he used it doesn't seem as something bad to me, (IMO). Rather than say "He is an asshole for using AI", I would say those "artists" are to blame.

I've had customers who use AI to try to give references, they are seeking me because of my art, my service, because they trust me or want to see art in my style. They could go with AI and likely get better "quality", but they don't. "Piracy is a service problem"

My point is, We live in a world of grays, not everything is black and white. Yes, the ideal is to push for a proper regulation of AI, but to attack those who uses them just give a bad image to creators. At least to me it gives a very narcissistic impression of you.
