Final planting day for fall.🌱
Two pounds of Leningrad hardneck yielded 75 cloves. Also planted 10 nectaroscordum to lead off the cut flower bed and 10 drumstick alliums to spruce up the corner of the rosebed.
A raised bed with 12 rows of six holes and another row of three. Each hole contains a garlic clove. There are garlic papers strewn all over the place.

The city has finally gotten around to fixing the curb where they took out the 100 y.o. ash tree last year. This is some of the roots from the old beast.🌱

The weather continues to feed my desire for desk bouquets.🌱

Does it count as a bouquet if each flower is in its own vase? Dinnerplates don't exactly share very well.
Sandman, an orange dahlia with golden split tips on its petals. Spartacus, a dark red dahlia with curly petals and pink streaks on the backside. An unnamed pinkish dahlia with yellow highlights and an open yellow center. Also, a small fossilized fish.

Porch tulips are ready for a long winter nap.

Also planted hyacinth (for @winniethewoot.bsky.social), anemones and lamium in DMH's woodland garden, and erythroniums in the Seuss garden for me.

Every new desk bouquet could be the last one before spring, so I brought in a big one today.

I especially love Spartacus' blonde highlights. And that big guy in the middle is Sandman, who didn't get a chance to bloom last year before the first frost.🌱

This is my view when I arrive home from work. I don't know how much longer the dahlias are going to hang in there, but there's no frost in the 10-day forecast yet. (Which is two weeks later than usual.🤞) 🌱

Youth and elders, urban and rural, Democrat and Republican, I think there’s one thing on which we can agree: It’s wrong to wreck the world. I think the question that we need is, ”What does the Earth ask of us?” How can we give back in return for everything we’ve been given, and for everything we’ve taken? With Plant, Baby, Plant, we will counter the forces of destruction with creative resistance in support of life. For generations, Indigenous communities, grassroots organizers, gardeners, scientists, artists, civil servants, foresters, food advocates, and others have championed the work of healing land and restoring our relationship with the Earth. Our goal is not to reinvent the wheel. It is to amplify, multiply, and carry forward these powerful efforts. Now is the time to help accelerate and expand that work with a groundswell of resistance. Together, we can spark a grassroots movement to heal land, build community, and transform love of land into social change. Not only will we plant trees and food and wildflower meadows, but we will plant our feet and say “no more destruction”.
