The gov in Methusaleh’s Children is pretty clearly a failure, and in Time Enough for Love, it’s a sparse frontier population. Troopers is the only government of a modern dense Earth he portrays as working, so it’s the most criticized. Most of the time, when he writes Earth, it’s a shithole.

Who’s stopping them? Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, and the PA was offered independent control of 98% of the West Bank. When have Palestinians offered any peace agreement other than “leave the country or die (or both)?”

You can’t invade your own ancestral homeland. You can only reclaim it. Which Jews did, in 1948, after it having been promised back to them by the occupying power (Britain). Hence the problem with your claimed definition, and with trying to relitigate 1948.

He isn’t here on a student visa. He has a green card. ICE isn’t allowed to revoke green cards. I don’t have pity; I do have a respect for law. The first amendment protects people who hate me, too.

Can you think of a MORE efficient way to sow mistrust in government and resentment by employees, create an environment rife with error and abuse, and in all other ways, sabotage and undermine government as a whole?

I’m curious; what would have been a “proportionate response?” Picking out 1,200 random Palestinians, lining them up against the wall, and shooting them? If you want to be treated like a serious person, say serious things.

The track record of countries saving themselves from fascism is…not encouraging. I think the only way out is through, and it may require foreign intervention before it’s over. That’s what it took for Germany and Italy, and it wasn’t pleasant.

Something like 70% of Gaza residents still view Hamas’s actions on October 7 favorably, and having a literal dance party over the bodies of the Bibas boys didn’t do a lot to change that perception. It’s neat how the people trying to make Jews out to be Nazis aren’t the ones Hamas has sworn to kill.
