watched Crimson Peak to get in the GDT mood for Frankenstein and having Edith dressed as the butterfly from the beginning of the film while also looking like a human sized danger sign really is peak costume design, 11/10 no notes

Can't stop thinking about Kara Walker's sculpture Unmanned Drone where she remade an equestrian statue of Stonewall Jackson into this fucked up creature. Jackson's leg pointing the wrong way, the spindly horse legs holding everything up, goddamn!

Kara Walker's sculpture work Unmanned Drone, a remaking of a bronze equestrian statue of Confederate general Stonewall Jackson. The sculpture stands on all four of the horse's legs, with one of them cut at the knee, the horse's head is at the creature's waist and Jackson's severed limbs make up the torso, the legs pointing backwards. It appears grotesque and like it might stagger forwards at any moment.
