I have long been a critic of BICS and CALP but is probably the worst depiction of it I have seen. The biggest problem is the assumption that art is less cognitively demanding than science. But even if you buy that “calling someone on the phone” could be to talk to them about a science experiment.

It’s fun getting a notification that someone has cited my work. It’s infuriating to read their paper and realize it is inaccurate gibberish apparently written by generative AI. The sentence in question bears no relationship to my work and the paper includes numerous other irrelevant citations. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Inclusion benefits everybody. Teaching students about marginalized groups in optional (opt-out, not opt-in) high school social studies courses leads to better attendance, higher grades in other subjects (particularly math and science), and higher graduation rates.
