I think this is key. The majority of the economy, and just as importantly, the social fabric of the community, around a university is based on students and staff.

The whole thing is a catastrophe waiting to happen, and the fact bloody ministers are talking about ‘providers’ ‘exiting the market’ and not wholesale collapse of communities rather suggests they don’t have a fucking clue.

It's also going to be interesting to see what happens to the housing market in the area when landlords realise their HMOs are now largely unwanted

Genuinely worried what happens to students when their uni goes into administration. Do they transfer somewhere else? What about prepaid accommodation, fees already paid? Some students have to be where they are, for family or other reasons. It’s going to be a disaster area.

Hey! That’s (a couple of days) more than a month! Call her when it’s *tomorrow*, THAT’s an emergency.

(part of the deflecting of responsibility, isn’t it? If it’s tomorrow, there’s nothing she can do. Something in the next quarter that could be prevented: she might have a responsibility to act)

Please tell me it's Oxford. Then we might get someone in Westminster to move on this.

Starting to think that there's a very deliberate attempt at evading the question because then they'd suddenly be responsible for it. If they just keep pretending it's not happening, they hope someone else wel fall on their swords for them.

Backing young people doesn't happen with just setting targets and posting snarky social media posts. You need to put the resources towards that. And instead, you're pulling ever more funding from universities that do the work of *educating* towards that degree.

So, apparently, she has. The question now remains whether the information actually gets taken in...
THIS. It remains mad that a wordpress page run by a little branch is somehow the best info the *Department for Education* has about the destruction of #UKHE.
