Fold a piece of paper into a straight tube with a triangular cross-section. Glue the sides. Can you feel the stiffness?

Our SIGGRAPH 2025 paper, "C-Tubes: Design and Optimization of Tubular Structures Composed of Developable Strips", extends this process to arbitrary tube shapes and cross-sections.

If you were a snake, how would you slither and solve this obstacle race?

In our SIGGRAPH 2025 paper "Inverse Geometric Locomotion", we investigate control problems for deformable bodies in dissipation- and inertia-dominated setups.

It’s a wrap! So much fun to work on these projects with people from GCM! Looking forward to see what these ideas on my head will turn into 🙌
Congratulations, Dr. Quentin Becker! @qbecky.bsky.social
Quentin successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at EPFL entitled "Computational Design of Deployable Gridshells with Curved Elastic Beams"
The core of his thesis research is nicely illustrated on his head!
