Happy winter solstice! Geographically for me, today's time without the sun is 16h, 5min, and 42s. And while we all yearn for longer days, why not take advantage of the dark and enjoy some solitude with the stars? When it's not freezing, of course.

Passed 2,000 kms on my bike a few days ago. I took my first ride on 16 Apr 2023. That's 853 days, or an average of 2.3 kms per day, every day of the year, rain or shine. That's Calgary to Vancouver and back. Or, 1/3 of the way across Canada, Pacific to Atlantic. I love biking.

Had a rough day at work, so to de-tox, I went to Sonic 2. Original cart, original console, hooked up to a CRT via composite :) Played as Tails, found a couple of secret paths in Metropolis Zone that I'd never seen before, and trashed Robotnik's round ass in under 2 minutes in Death Egg. Stress gone!

Biked up to Chestermere and now just lounging at the beach here. Just ate a delicious sandwich! Should have brought two sandwiches to be honest. It was a long ride and I still have to go back 😅

It's fun to go back through my 20+ years of astrophoto files and apply modern editing routines to some of them. Here is a small sample of OLD photos of mine that I recently processed. Keep in mind that the imaging equipment I use is super, super modest.

Did my annual Solstice midnight bike ride! It wasn't quite midnight, and it was overcast / raining all evening - I retained a LOT of water - but it was cool. Happy longest day of the year to everyone!

Did a 50km+ bike ride to the Harvie Passage and back. Had me a sandwich there. Warm sunny days, long bike rides, and delicious sandwiches... what could be better?

Went for a late evening bike ride. The weather was warm and the bike ride was pure joy. The pic is of my bike with the constellation of Orion in the sky. Can't wait for the warm days where I can lie on some hill somewhere and just enjoy the stars... after biking over to this hill, of course!
