Reminds me of that Family Guy clip I can never find on YouTube where Peter doesn't want to go to the doctor's, so he skips his appointment and when Lois asks how it went, he says.
"Good, the doctor says I'm actually in too good of shape"

I've tried a few similar solutions. Even the big cans, I "burp" them as I close them, I don't agitate them, so only the top is exposed to any air etc.. Still haven't been able to maintain absolute freshness after the first ~2 days. But it's a pretty minor loss of quality. Noticeable, but minor

Time is a flat parallelogram
err wait that's not it

Yeah the only thing that kinda sucks is I buy the large tins because I go through it so quick (also vacuum packed) but after the first day or two it gets noticeably less fresh. It's not a huge deal, but the first few cups out of a fresh can are the best for sure

Grinding your own beans does make a small difference, but it's small... And subject to some of the same issues. Beans need to be fresh and roasted etc. Usually if you buy them pre-ground they're just as fresh or so close it barely matters

I love coffee, drank it black several times a day since I was... I dunno, 10? 11? Not sure. I've tried it every which way, and fresh grounds in a cheap drip coffee maker is about 98% as good as it gets. Drip coffee makers were a revelation and people who say they aren't good are being pretentious

And messy
November 12, 2025 at 5:44 PM
I did that for a while but decided it wasn't worth the effort and noise. Coffee grinders are fucking LOUD

hmm could be. It doesn't quite smell stale, but kinda a bit stale and there's a more acidic smell a bit... Hard to describe, but it smells very different to me... I'll try another brand next time, see if it's the same

So either something is different, or I've got a brain tumor lol

Yeah and the worst is you pretty much have to be viewing those regularly. Because that’s the only way you’ll know if an error is normal or not when there actually is a problem
November 12, 2025 at 11:28 AM
Yeah good point. Almost better they don’t get the modern MS treatment
November 12, 2025 at 11:16 AM
And it’s not even JUST about the stupid app but Microsoft events are a joke. Like 90% of the errors are pointless noise that even MS support will tell you to ignore
November 12, 2025 at 11:15 AM
All those incredibly important but ancient apps they don’t give a shit about…. I spend a stupid amount of time in the event viewer on servers. Literal worst log viewing app in existence. You’d think they’d care a bit about that one too

These days I'll take an AppImage if one is available though. That's what I do for BitWarden and a few others....
I've had no luck at all with Flatpaks so I avoid those like the plague, but if there's an AppImage, I'll use that

I don't mind compiling either, but these days most of the libraries you need for stuff like that aren't included in a default install... So you end up needing to install a whole bunch of somepackage-dev packages to get compiling to work, which often is more annoying
