Kenya Power did it’s big one with the verification of staff. Now if only Kenya Police could take a page out of their book and have their staff standing out in traffic wear their badge numbers.

Found an irregular mole today. Also had some hair growing on it. Heart pounding as I begin to think about a dermatological referral, I gingerly touch it to ground myself that this is real.

Chat, it was chocolate with fuzz on it.

Lesson: scan your body after you eat chocolate lying down.

Pay attention to the what Kĩama kĩa Ma is doing. We’re slowly rolling back to what happened in under Njuri-Ncheke teachings, lest we think our side of the mountain is progressive in these matters. The rites of passage and gender roles messaging is regressive and oppressive.

story is told of a man who never contributed to any function in the village. He would show up and read a newspaper. The villagers tried to talk to him but he continued. When he passed away, people came to his burial and read their newspaper.

Chat. I’m tired. Recommend some high net worth individuals who can support GenderJobs.org to keep us running so I don’t have to work 2 jobs to keep it up and running. I love what we do but it’s getting to be very draining.

Yearly reminder for tourists coming to Kenya. Do not to get a black henna tattoo, you may be permanently scarred. Got one in 2020 and it’s been five years and it’s finally starting to barely show. This is after getting medical treatment (topical and oral steroids) within a week of getting it.

To think that I stopped crying when getting shots when I was 8 because of a national vaccination campaign. I was known to be brave and strong at school and I really could not take not being considered cool under pressure. I also realized then that I was actually more afraid of that than the pain.

In honor of the AVPA 2025 conference, I just want to say: Hello. My name is Nemo and I am a survivor of The Abraaj Group.

Listening to a Bible study podcast by some conservative women and one said that the one of the tests of how you parented your children is when they are adults and they get to choose the relationship they want with you (if any) and friendship with them is the ultimate reward.

Watching a show set in 2025 and someone hands someone else a cheque, especially over $10k USD, really takes me out of it. It would be faster to ask for bank details and copy paste them in but #fortheplot I guess…#blackrabbit

1/ Mirena removal and insertion (replacement) in a private hospital after 5 years. A world of difference.

In 2020, the cost was 30k KES. This included the consultation, the imaging, insertion and pain management.

In 2020, I had a callous gynae . She gets a healthcare worker COVID-19 pass though.

MPESA ate with the name verification before inputting the amount to be sent. I use it more for confirming unknown numbers calling me or checking if someone’s number is still the same before reaching out. Saved me so much time, having to watch Truecaller ads.

1/ I see terrible takes on murima folks being colonized so much that we suppress our emotions at funerals. I cannot speak for other mountain folk but mine used to leave the dying in the forest. We didn’t have burials.

I just spent 2 days in a procurement and logistics conference and boy, that sector is rife with sexual harassment. And they know it too because everyone assumed my wedding ring was because I did not want to be bothered. I was-the weird one for calling it out.

Anyone who has a lead for school sponsorship for South Sudanese refugees in Nairobi, please reach out. A plea from my 10-year old niece. Her schoolmate comes over to read her notes and see what the homework is even if she can’t go to school.

Why is death so unrelenting? I feel like ever since October 2023, I have been burying a family member every couple of months. On top of being aware of multiple genocides and war crimes the world is witnessing, I’ve never been more grateful for community.

Yesterday, a family friend spoke a blessing over me that I will be catapulted in to the highest echelons of my work and I would drive big cars and hold millions with people respecting me. He also said my grandmother will be healed and she will not orphan my auntie. She just died…so there’s that too.

Smart DL: Got it in 2 weeks.
Passport: Got it in 2 weeks.
Certified birth certificate: Got it in 2 weeks.
Certified marriage certificate: 3 months and counting with no feedback from the Registrar on when it will be available. Eventually Kenya happens to all of us.

I can’t watch hospital shows the same anymore. There’s no way to talk right after a tube is taken out of your throat. First your tongue is numb and you can’t even form words. It takes a least a day to wear off. Even then, your throat hurts so bad for a couple days and your jaw has limited movement.

In the long list of things of domestic violence triggers, a woman is beaten because of singing Gethia Mundu in church. Like it’s the lyrics to “tell someone you love them”. Perpetrators know exactly what they are doing and they’ll always have an excuse with a long line of apologists backing them.

How I got a 96% in my capstone paper in a Christian school. Well, that and reading the instructions. He said to pick one viewpoint and defend it. Folks tried to pick more than one. He dropped it off at my desk smiling and said thanks for following the instructions.
One time, I wrote a paper that I 100% disagreed with because I understood my professor’s point a view and decided to flatter him for a good grade. I got the highest grade in the class.
