Kaminari didn’t reply. Hitoshi could hear papers being scooped up and straightened, then heard the door latch click once to open the door, again to close.
He was alone.

“Fuck, Kaminari, what the hell?” He heard a thud, followed by the whoosh of papers sliding and hitting the floor.

Shinsou made his way into his room unaccosted and collapsed face first onto the bed. This was it. He’d just stay here for the next three days. No one would even notice he was gone.
Of course, the universe had other plans, as an insistent knocking started at his door.

“So,” Kirishima said, glancing at the doorway Bakugou had disappeared through, “you’re him? You’re not actually, you know -”

Katsuki ground the heels of his hands into his eyes. “Why do you even do that? Can’t you just ask when I'm actually awake like a normal person?”
Hitoshi snorted. “Since when have I been a normal person?”
“Fair.”

And when the voices wear a rut in your mind that bisects all of the glowing paths of creation with mounds of rubble, becoming the only path you can see-
you learn how to craft bridges, picking stones from the rubble and shaping them one by one until the ruts are just scenery,

“We’ve got this, we’re gonna go out there and tell them what’s what, and we’re not gonna end up couch surfing!”
“Not sure how you got from panel discussion to couch surfing, but the energy’s good. Keep that up, I guess?” Shinsou said with an awkward thumbs up.
