The neurological and behavioral effects are often irreversible, even at low levels of exposure.

This approach reflects strong empirical evidence on how lead exposures occur and how their impacts unfold across the lifespan.

Children are particularly vulnerable: they may absorb up to 4–5 times more lead than adults, and their developing brains and bodies can be more sensitive to damage. (2/4)
