Thinking of blues that grace my garden for #GardensHour and I always come back to The Blue Pot. It’s big enough for me to climb inside and sit down (should I ever want to) and I absolutely love it. Blue is my favourite colour.

Cherry plum in flower against a blue sky. Great to see these first signs of spring.

Carrot, cumin and ginger soup with the first of the wild garlic. The leaves are still tiny and the flavour is very subtle, but it still feels like a taste of spring.

A breezy afternoon walk to the ‘cake tin’ with moody skies thrown in.

A winter wreath I made this afternoon. The ivy berries aren’t quite ripe yet and the oranges are leftovers from Christmas but I love the dark, rich tones of late winter evergreen foliage.

Presents all wrapped and ready to pack, just need to glaze and bake the ham, make panna cotta for the Christmas Eve party, bath the dogs and do my nails and that’s me sorted for tomorrow. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Not a wildflower I’d expect to see in December but amazed by how the low winter sun brings out all the detail.

The garden just now. The forecast promised fog but I seem to have my own microclimate up here. Winter’s still got novelty value but by the time the new year comes I’ll be ready to flee the country.
