I could write you a song but then I’d have to kill you softly with it.

I’m leery of rechargeable things because once the battery goes, the whole thing is dead. I have a set of these lights which can cycle through all different colors and they don’t work at all anymore. Of course a candle is less of a financial risk, I think these were like $40 when I bought them.

If you were a lady in the 1960s, it was not easy - or cheap - to have dry hair. You had to get a bonnet for your beehive. Also I guess the electric hairbrush never caught on.

As with so many things, AI is just completely wrong on this once again. Not that I was relying on them. I had just assumed it was still available on HBO because the movie had been there forever. I don’t know when they removed it, but it can’t have been that long ago.

Whether you baste it or not, I am pretty sure it is done by now, you can probably take it out of the oven.

Who needs a jewelry store when you’ve got Sears? Diamonds shipped from the Diamond Vault in New York. 14K gold bands - $12. Almost 60 years ago, someone cut out the ring-size finder printed in the catalog. I wonder which one they had their eye on. 💍🧐 Perhaps a set of birthstone rings for the family.

While “algorithm” seems to be a dirty word these days, I can’t complain too much about one that recommends Snoopy, Star Trek, and Paul McCartney. A dash of Grace Slick and weird architecture only sweetens the deal.

In this SNL sketch from last night about the making of a Scandinavian movie, Jane Wickline’s only role was to introduce the scenes. But she nailed her delivery so well I had to make a clip of it for my phone so I can play it over and over and crack up every single time. 🎬🤣

I could (and probably will) do numerous posts on ladies’ fashion alone. I like how the outfits are referred to as costumes. It sounds like the setup for a Napoleon Dynamite-style insult: “Your mom wears a costume.”

Even ladies’ fashions were in the midst of a transition from black-and-white to color.

In 1967, televisions were available in both black-and-white for those unsure whether color was going to stick around, and in color for your more adventurous types.

The catalog offers a fascinating look at those mysterious years between Ward Cleaver and Mike Brady. Just like real life at the time, it is sometimes in black-and-white and sometimes in color.

I found a treasure in my attic: A copy of the 1967 Spring and Summer mail-order catalog from Sears. Sadly I had to find this first photo online as mine was missing the front cover and first dozen pages. But at 1585 pages long, I should have plenty of material to post about for the rest of the year.

Comparing Washington, D.C. to a dementia village seems awfully appropriate.

The Loki series had terrific set design as well. But the color palette gave it a much more repressed atmosphere.

After watching the latest “Fantastic Four” movie, I think it is probably my favorite Marvel production in in terms of set design. I love the Atomic Age retrofuturism aesthetic.

My mom thought I was indigestion. 😳

(She knew she was pregnant. Just when I was ready to get out of there she didn’t believe me at first. 😅)

I wish there was something I could do with the jack o’lanterns before I give them to the squirrels. Seems like a waste to only use them for a couple hours on Halloween night. Maybe I should bring them upstairs and put them on the coffee table to be household decorations for the weekend. 🤔 🎃

The squirrels are already enjoying my pumpkin debris. Well one of them is anyway.

Along with the jack-o’-lanterns themselves, I got to bring home two big tubs full of pumpkin guts. It is going to be Thanksgiving all November long for the squirrels around here. 🎃🐿️

My cousin invited me over for Halloween and I got to carve two pumpkins into jack-o’lanterns for the first time in like 50 years. 🎃🎃

The monster trio was pretty original, which is rare. And I like how you say you could tell the people who made it were passionate about it. According to IMDb, everyone involved wanted the effort to succeed.

I even have a Drew Struzan poster hanging on the wall six feet away from where I am sitting right now. I never knew who to thank for that until now.
