Megyn Kelly claimed Epstein was into “the barely legal type,” referring to 15 year-olds.

So I wrote about how her comments highlight the ways both purity culture and rape culture sexualize young girls and make male desire their responsibility.

The Barely Legal Type: Purity Culture, Rape Culture, and America’s Lose-Lose Proposition for Girls
The very parts of American culture that claim to promote teen abstinence and sexual purity operate on a parallel logic to the rape culture that enables the darkest misogynistic violence against women.

But we can’t do that without your help

Censoring Kimmel, which happened after I filed this essay, and censoring the past are of a kind with each other.

Trump and MAGA clearly want to stifle any voice, any narrative that isn’t theirs.
The Trump administration’s decision to remove depictions of slavery from National Historic Parks isn’t just about revising history. It’s about reshaping America.

While “status” comprises a number of signs of economic success—homes, jobs, bank accounts—it's a relative measure, and it goes beyond hard economics to include important intangibles. This is key.

We’re closing in on a decade with Trump as the dominant figure in GOP politics. After this term, it’ll be 14 years of Trump being either the candidate or the main background reality to every election.

That much time has generational consequences, as I argue at MSNBC

Opinion | A whole generation of voters has never experienced politics without Trump
Worries about “normalizing” Trump are years out of date. Younger voters have never known politics without Trump.
