I'm definitely not quick at it, per say, but the perpetual cycle of living up to my own (and unconsciously other peoples') expectations is tiring at moments, especially when the goal is to "improve as an artist." It's much too broad to think that way; I think I'm seeing that more clearly. (2/6)

Over the span of the past months it's been difficult to get myself to finish these projects. It's not without reason, some may be too ambitious, too uninteresting, or just plain depressing to work on. Never because of time. (1/6)

I’ve also realized my love for hyenas for these types of things. Super flexible for humor, symbolism, and everything else. Plus, they’re just plain fun :p

Bit of a semester dump. Had the opportunity to work on some interesting concepts with this one as my personal favorite, inspired by the Japanese “check-sheets” and how the screens contrast with the markers.
Drawing on white paper with many strokes of green and red marker, making the overall picture and words harder to discern. By looking through a green (it’s more green in-person :P) plastic screen, the red marker has greater contrast than the green, which is now hidden. The photo reveals the markings are a pattern resembling fur all throughout the page, with a prolonged sentence saying “Insanity is doing, doing, doing, doing…” and continues on. Through a red screen, the green marker is brought forward, showing an image of a dog-person sitting in the fetal position in the center of the page. Strokes around the paper disappear near him, with the words “self-imposed loneliness” above and below him respectively.

Class exhibition was held for a couple days last and this week, so I got a new print hung up (as well as the previous one.)

Was an overall wonderful experience looking at everyone’s process and finally seeing how they fit on-site.
A silkscreen print (measuring ~42cm x ~50cm) of an illustrated wolf (side view) looking at a photographic bird with the words “Smile; You’re on camera.; And it’s quite hungry.” written in a dark blue, becoming drastically smaller in scale with each line. The background is a turquoise-green with some etchings of various other colors caused by the CMYK printing process. The wolf is printed in a purple-ish hue, seen smiling a contorted smile that squishes its muzzle and mouth in a zigzag-like pattern, baring its slightly yellowed and pronounced teeth as translucent drool sloughs out of it’s mouth. The only eye seen is instead replaced with a modified photo of a camera lens, as a single point of shine replicates the pupil of an eye whilst a red recording light is seen on the eye’s lower right. The photographic bird is heavily out of focus and blurred, but is set in the foreground at a fairly large scale. The bird seems to be visually oblivious of the wolf behind it.

Finished this print a couple days ago but I forgot to post it :p

For my first multi-layer print, came out better than I thought despite the mistakes. It’s really one big thing I appreciate about physical mediums.

The print has a bright yellow background with a slightly dark, reddish text reading “¡LAUGH!” repeated three times from top to bottom. There is a hyena on the right, colored with a very light pink and light blue hue, seen laughing hysterically with its eyes closed and with tears barely visible. On its left is a levitating hyena’s skull, colored the same pink as the hyena, also seen laughing, indicated by the manpu (symbols used to indicate certain expressions, typically in Japanese manga) seen next to both figures, colored in a deep red. There is small text printed in the bottom margin reading: “WARNING: Laughter in extreme doses may cause headaches, nausea, hallucinations, depression, and even death. Please keep [in] (two words are scribbled out and replaced with the “in”) reach of children ages 12 and up.” The print quality is scratchy in some portions, with some parts of the image completely lacking color, showing the layers printed below it. The harsh outline drawn on the subjects and text are also misaligned, slightly floating to the top left of the color layers, giving the image a slightly more street-art-like appearance.

And a larger-scale print for the following project featuring FKF_Dingo, made with 10 layers of ink. In hindsight, this was WAY too much for my skill level at the time but I pulled through. Would’ve liked it cleanly printed but the thick ink makes a fairly neat texture close up (and is also heavy.)

Aware I’ve been super quiet on most platforms for a while, but I’ve been really struggling to get personal art done for a good bit now. Just trying to slowly build up that motivation again as per usual. In the meantime I’ve been working on a few prints and some small-scale artist books.

Been playing Friends vs Friends for a short while now, and it's been incredibly fun. Wanted to make a mock movie poster starring my favorite character of the cast.

Really fun colors on this one, and the project actually came out fairly quick.

After a long gap filled with demotivation, I finally managed to finish another project. Reconceptualization of the first drawing of Lexington I did, but with a lot more elements that I wanted to experiment with.
