Day 11 of art show prep… the one that was done in the beginning is still the only one done, but I have made progress! Two in good shape, and two prepped boards waiting in the wings.

Day one of art show prep: Inventory.

What do I have? What’s finished, what’s not? Of the finished stuff, what’s appropriate to the show’s theme? Of the unfinished stuff, what will work and what won’t? What materials do I have and what can be repurposed?

Visited a teeny tiny mercantile shop in a teeny tiny rural town in Idaho while traveling this weekend and I am delighted to say that this thing exists

Headed to Joann finally to see what they had. I wasn’t interested in the remaining books, and they were out of the paint and canvases I was looking for, BUT I found a nice floor lamp for my studio! This corner is so dark, and having this lamp will make a huge difference.
My small studio space, with my standing easel on the left, and a waist-high table on the right, which holds my tub of acrylic paint times, the vase holding my various brushes, and a stack of paintings in progress, all illuminated by the bar of my new standing LED lamp.

An acrylic painting on board, work in progress. The surface is highly textured, coated with several layers of red, yellow and brown paint, giving it an antiqued look. There is a very clear indentation of a cat’s paw in the texture, which has been painted over as well; the layers of paint emphasize the textures of the paw print, highlighting it nicely. 🐾
